Harrison Flood and Snag rod wanted

Michael Brough

Hi Guys, fishing the river in flood over the last few months I realise my existing tackle really wasn't up to the task. I would like to get a dedicated flood rod and was wondering if anyone had the Harrison 11ft 6in Snag and Flood rod gathering dust they were prepared to sell.

Thanks

Hi Michael, I have a chimera 3 12ft. The modern rods are 2.25. This was built by Bob the rod at fosters and I believe they were about 2lb test curve. Very progressive but will stop anything without being harsh. I bought it hoping to make up a pair but was unable,so bought a pair of the current Chimera 3 so have this spare.

Hi Kevin, thanks for the offer but fairly set on the Snag and Flood rod. I fish small to medium size spate rivers in Yorkshire and prefer a shorter rod in the tight swims.
Thanks.

The action of the Harrison Snag and Flood rods aren't everyone's cup of tea! But if you're set on one, good luck with your search👍

Hi Michael. I do have a factory built Chimera Barbel 11’ 6”. Harrison have confirmed that this is the Snag and Flood with a different badge. It was then stretched to 12ft to meet the demand for 12ft rods and called the”Chimera Specialist No 3). Its had an isotope shrink tubed on the tip. Might fit the bill for you.
£100 collected from Maidstone,Kent area or your courier collected.

Hi Kevin, thank the offer but even though I have travel to collect rods I’ve bought it’s a hell of a way from Leeds to Kent.
Thanks

Hi Mickeal, I have one that I bought from walkers of trowell paid £268 July 2023 used once looks brand new would want £200 for it, collection from selby North Yorkshire, if of any interest to you? Cheers Jim

Snag n flood far superior rod for what you want than chimera 3 have both .used mine on ribble with plenty water on Dove upper trent great playing action in tight swims .just keeps on bending when you need to give them some stick. Very few hook pulls plenty power

Hi Michael, did you manage to fish with the 11ft 6 flood and snag.
How are you getting on with it.
Jim...

Hi Jim, as you can imagine it has had some outings with the rivers being in flood. Very pleased with it. I us it with a Shimano baitrunner and 12lb line. I fish mainly the Nidd which is a narrow snag infested river and I can hit and hold with confidence. Not the poker some people say it is.

Thanks Micheal, I think I'm going to give them a try, Ive had a pair of c3s going dusty for a year or more now which I find ok , but just a bit too sloppy, and when on the rests just bend too much!.
Nothing to loose as I've got them for a steel, there in desperate need of a rebuild, which I shall have done if I like them.
Thanks.
Jim
