Most will withstand the absolute worst of weather if they are pinned down properly. A good storm pole and peg is far more likely to see your brolley survive the elements over depending on the brolley quality itself.
The best brolly in the world can be so easily destroyed by a gust of wind.
I think the penalties look really good if you’ve got the ground space to peg all round but if you haven’t then the Korum graphite or supersteels are also very good being storm pole suitable and have peg points at the back.

this bad boy comes with me everywhere. It’s a single man small Korum graphite that weighs 2.5kg and with the screw in storm poles and pegs it ain’t going anywhere. I’m a short session, spike in the floor type of guy most of the time.
it’s not a heavy duty thing by any means but it will last just fine so long as I keep the bloody thing bolted to the deck.

I purchased the KorumPentalite and used it for the first time yesterday. It was probably a force 6-7 wind with rain as well at times. It was fine once pegged down. A super day shelter. The barbel were on the munch as well .

I had my little one put up yesterday also in the same gale, doing a bit of piking.
It was taking a good battering but fair play to it for a light duty short sesh brolley it stood its ground and I stayed dry.

I need to make something to everyone clear... since putting that picture up of the Korum graphite brolley I’ve received a couple messages about it and I may of mis lead people a bit.
That brolley didn’t come with storm pole adapters and imo it’s not designed to use them. I’m an engineer so it’s a simple task for me to make it work but the ribs are 7mm graphite and storm pole adapters are for 4-5mm steel ribs. I drilled them out to 7.5 and removed the grub screws because you don’t want to be driving metal into graphite.
they just hang loose until you attach a pole and stick it in the floor.
also they are a hard stainless steel. Drilling isn’t easy. Stainless work hardens so apply decent pressure, use HSS bits and a cutting oil or compound or you won’t drill them successfully. If you are going to do it do not let the drill bit go blunt and work harden the stainless. If you do youll struggle to drill it at all.

They just slide on. Below it I rapped insulation tape and heat shrink over the top to simply stop the adapters falling down the spoke when it’s closed because I’m not using the grub screws. Works just fine and makes a light duty brolley capable of sitting in a high wind.

No they won't, as I discovered recently Luckily I had a pair of brass storm caps on my Korum brolly so drilled them out and switched them over to the Diawa Mission brolly which also has large graphite ribs and put the Cygnet ones on my Korum brolly, I have left the grub screws in and so far they have not caused a problem

I've had a Fox Specialist Brolly for a few seasons now and its what I use when its blustery weather or if im night fishing till the early hours.
Very sturdy and with the storm pegs in stays put!
Only down side is the width at the top means I can only fit into my gardener rover quiver not my korum quiver.

I have left the grub screws in and so far they have not caused a problem

They shouldn’t do any harm if you don’t over tighten them onto the graphite. You could always remove the grub screws and put a little blob of rubber sealant on the end of them. Let it set then put them back in and tighten them up so the rubber nips against the carbon rib rather than metal.

take off storm pole adaptors and move the up one spokes add storm poles rock soild and then you can remove centre pole to give you more room .i just put some o rings behind the adaptors to keep them in place

Ady - I was also using a Pentaline in the gales. Agree with your views on it. The best thing about it is the lack of a centre pole, so you can sit right back. Great height too.

Yes an excellent piece of kit Richard and recommended thanks to the forum. I was out yesterday as well for my final river day of the season. Long overdue comfort in inclement conditions

. . .Fox Camlock or Powerpoint (if you want screw points) are the best in my experience in terms of weight, strength and cam lock mechanism. Saying that I've recently bought some 38" NGT storm poles (for my main barbel rod rests) which are half the price and so far are equally good - time will tell whether the cam lock lasts though (I've had abused the Fox poles for well over a decade)

Whatever you buy, def get a pair of Prologic (or similar) quick release connectors . . .nagates screwing/unscrewing in poles to the brolly adaptors and means you can attach and remove storm poles in seconds . . .
