Hi, just to day if anyones wallet is a bit battered by recent events and youre looking for a bargain have a look at the Tackle Box Darent Valley rods, amazing value (£65) with a nice finish and quite a suprisingly sweet action . I got the 11ft 1.75 lb tc one and i have to say for the money its excellent, nice short handle with green tips whipping im very impressed , double legged rings which wont bend through misuse, its not obviously a top end rod but for the occasional barbel outing or for someone whose a bit brutal with their gear id say its ideal, well worth a look, ive got one and im going to get another

Whole heatedly agree Chris. I have the 1.25lb TC LSG which I use on a small local water for Tench. It’s a great rod and as you say amazing value 👍

The telescopic landing net handle in the same range is so good, i bought two. Everyone bangs on about their favorite being the Drennan specialist, or some people prefer the Gardner equivalent, but the tackle box one is better....

Is this the one, Jon? Not as long as the Drennan twistlock.

Better than the Drennan Specialist? 🤔

As I've posted before, a lot of the Tackle Box own brand products are excellent value. The landing net arms and spreader blocks are light and bombproof, I've also been using the Tackle Box CFX spod and marker rods for carp/tench for a while now. Really well built rods, the marker is particularly good for my needs, the spod is a beast bit too powerful for my needs. I think all the CFX range are based on the Freespirit S-range. Lifetime warranty as well and excellent customer service.

Richard / Neil / Joe - yes that's the one. I had a Drennan one and it bust. I had the Gardner one, the screw fitting fell off the top.

This has in a year been fine and dandy, its light and strong and long enough for the worst swim I fish on the Mole where you have a long drop off the rod tip.

My son has just bought similar from NGT, telescopic and seems very good, cost was under £30 I believe. What broke on the Drennan Jon?

It went between the two sections when lifting a fish, of course some of that could have been down to me over extending it, but i had a mark on their that i'd used to ensure that didn't happen.

I took a gamble and recently got their 13ft specialist float rod. I've not had the chance to bank any Barbel on it yet but my first impression is that they're very well made and on par with more accepted brands costing significantly more.

I have a couple of the .75tc rods for perch and roach fishing. As said they are excellent rods for the price.
