Hi Wayne, tried this on mine without any sucess. Mine has the adjustable tensioner to slow the spool down, dont know if that makes any difference ?

Some of the later canon ixus models have face recognition coupled with multiple shots at intervals. The only probelm is at night you have to illuminate yourself for a second or two so the camera sees you, but other than that it is great for selfshots.
No i know what you mean, i too have the same reservations but yet to find the right balance between protection/capacity/weight in a quiver. Not sure there is such an item and a compromise needs to be made somewhere.
I don't think there is technique as such just a steady pull down on the central boss. Perhaps a little tricker when the wind is pulling things in the opposite direction admitedly :D
