Which mono hook link do you prefer, I just bought some Guru 9.7 lb ,
It seams really thin for the Breaking strain
A bit worried about using it

It'll most likely be pre-stretched (a la Drennan Double Strength) so will have much less 'give' in it. Not so good for fishing at very close range for bigger fish, but fine ('fine' geddit!Which mono hook link do you prefer, I just bought some Guru 9.7 lb ,

Hi Terry, which braid do you use ?It'll most likely be pre-stretched (a la Drennan Double Strength) so will have much less 'give' in it. Not so good for fishing at very close range for bigger fish, but fine ('fine' geddit!) at medium/long range with stretchy main line (i.e. as a 'cushion').
Otherwise, sorry, but I don't use mono hooklinks, I use braid, or fluoro (in clear water conditions, or fishing at very close range e.g. snags)
Depends Adam ... on the Middle Severn/tenching I mostly use Drennan microbraid (I think it looks and feels more natural than anything else), and if I'm using coated braid (Lower Severn etc) my fave is Striptease (mostly as it strips so easily) or Sufix Camo Skin. But hooklength material is not a big issue for me (but maybe that's why I blank so regularlyHi Terry, which braid do you use ?

Hi Jon ,what about Berkley Big Game 10/12 lb ??Just use some esp synchro xt, Guru and Preston is match line, stick to a specimen line.
Synchro xt is a good strong mono. No reason to not use as a hooklink.Hi Jon ,what about Berkley Big Game 10/12 lb ??
Is synchro xt used for hooklink ?
Hi Ian,Hi Adam,
I use Berkley Trilene xl in 10lb on the middle Trent. It knots well and is durable unlike the low diameter copolymer or pre stretched lines. It catches me plenty of barbel so they obviously don't mind the thickness or stiffness.
I do think that Amnesia is too thick and too stiff for barbel. I used to use it for sea fishing.
