For all of my float and chub fishing I have switched over to Cadence reels.
They are fantastic reels. Great value too, especially as they sometimes do a buy one, get one free offer.
I also use a Cadence CS5 as my bass lure reel, and have been really impressed with it.
A couple of others that haven't been mentioned:
The fish locker- Mainly sea fishing based, so might not be for everyone. But the guy seems really genuine, owns a boat, and puts up lots of really interesting diving/nature/catch and cook videos. Well worth a watch.
John Arthur fishing- Match...
I lived just outside Bridgnorth for a number of years, and could walk to the Severn. But, having moved towards Wolverhampton, I have been sticking to the rules and not travelling. Bridgnorth is 15 miles-ish away, and it's just not an option.
Trying to turn a negative into a positive, I am...
I have been picking up the odd chub using ultra light lures on the Shropshire Union.
Water was very coloured today, so tough going. However I managed one that went just over 3lb. Great fun on light gear.
I know lots of people like the Korum luggage, however I have been unimpressed.
My ruckbag ripped down the seam, by the fixing point for the strap. I had only used it a couple of times, plus there was a issue with one of the zips.
And lets just say Korums customer service leaves lots to be...
Sad state of affairs, but will just have to get on with it.
Not sure I really understand the 'if I can go to work, then why can't I fish' mentality. They are trying to minimise social contact across the board, the government knows the risks that people will face continuing to work and shop...
Hello,
I am attempting to target carp on my local canal, and I could use a bit of advice. I haven't really fished for carp before, and if any of you experienced carp or canal anglers out there could point me in the right direction, that would be great.
I have spent some time walking the...
Hello,
I have spotted a few carp on my local canal, and shorter carp rods would make fishing for them far easier.
If anyone has got anything suitable, let me know. Single rod, or a pair.
Thanks.
I take a mat, but I rarely use it.
I unhook in the net, using barbless hooks its an easy process. Supporting the landing net, suspending the fish in the net, and unhooking that way. Most of the fish I catch will be out of the water for a few seconds. Personally, I don't see the point of...
I think the Cadence range are fantastic, I purchased two CS5 reels (they often run BOGOF offers on reels) and they have been great. With the offer, they worked out at £25 each. I will be using one as my go-to chub reel this year.
Yes, unfortunately it is quite a poor product . I presume that's what has happened, the quality of their luggage has gone down.
Which is a shame, the dimensions of it, the layout and pockets perfectly suited my needs. Just a shame it has fallen to bits after a few uses.
Korum ITM Compact Ruckbag- Not very impressed. I needed a smaller bag, I fish a section of the Severn that involves quite a long walk. So, wanted a smaller bag, more suited to long walks and roving. I used it about 5 times before it started to fall apart, the bag ripped down the seam by the...
Thanks for the advice,
I shall keep my eye out for a medium feeder rod. I know the choice of tip depends on conditions, however what 'about' is the lightest/heaviest you would go when targeting roach?
Cheers
Thanks for that Bill, I did wonder if 1.25 would be on the heavy side?
Having never used one of these rods, how soft is the tip? Still undecided if I should go for an avon or quiver.
